June 10th 2020: Fleet Ramblings

10/6/2020

Stagecoach Oxfordshire
We now have confirmation that Scania/Enviro 400 15533 remains at Oxford and has been out of use since being displaced when the new ADL Enviro 400MMCs entered service at Witney at the end of last year. It was expected to be cascaded to another Stagecoach UK operating company but that has not taken place and we have no confirmation on where it was intended to be transferred to.

Stagecoach Manchester
Reports reach us that Enviro 400H Hybrids 12109 and 12201 have lost the green-based ‘Electric Hybrid’ livery and have received an updated version of ‘Magicbus’ colours. This is part of the cascade plan to move some of the hybrid vehicles onto ‘Magicbus’ duties.

East Yorkshire
Look out for Volvo B7TL 687 transferring from Hull to Bridlington.

Stagecoach East
News reaches us that within the next few days another batch of Enviro 400s will be transferred over from Cambridge to Peterborough.
Also look out for Busway Wright Eclipse Urban-bodied Volvos turning up at Bedford, the picture is becoming clearer and we now understand it is likely to be the B8RLEs that will move. One, 21301, is already there for driver familiarisation and several others will temporarily move from Fenstanton to Bedford for use on the X5 Cambridge-Oxford service. The reason for the use of these vehicles is because the Volvo/Plaxton elite coaches allocated to the route do not have driver protection screens fitted and will remain out of use.

Stagecoach East Midlands
Four of the Enviro 400s recently transferred here from Stagecoach Manchester, 19044/61/86/92, have now been moved to Grimsby with 19044, 19061 and 19092 in service from there today.
This leaves 19050/52/70 and 19130 from those vehicles transferred in May to be allocated and enter service, whilst more transfers from Stagecoach Manchester are expected although some of these may temporarily remain in the Stagecoach Manchester fleet to allow Social Distancing flexibility with several Magicbus Enviro 400s expected to provide cover temporarily at Wigan.

Stagecoach South Wales
The position with operational vehicles remains fluid with many operators, although more vehicles have now been returned to service/operational status.
To give an example here  Aberdare based Scania/Enviro 300s 28641 and 28642 re-entered service on Monday 8th June to increase capacity on service 172 Aberdare to Bridgend whilst Volvo B8RLE/MCV 21351 has re-entered service on the T4 route.
But it is not all vehicles re-entering service that we have been advised with Porth-allocated Optare Solo 47193 now delicenced.
