June 7th 2020: Fleet Ramblings7/6/2020
Stagecoach East
Further Enviro 400s have now transferred to Peterborough with the move of former Norfolk Green examples 10052/53/54 from Bedford yesterday. It is understood the transfer is permanent and is part of a plan to significantly increase the number of double deck vehicles based at Peterborough. 10055 is also expected to transfer shortly from Bedford to Peterborough. Ousted from Peterborough as a result are Enviro 200s 36062 and 37221 which have moved over to Cambridge. We also understand that Enviro 400s 19579/83 along with 19603/09/10/18/19 are also moved across from Cambridge to Peterborough today. With the plan for a mainly double deck fleet at Peterborough, with just a handful of midi vehicles, expected to be Enviro 200s, it now looks as if the use of Dart SLFs in the Peterborough area has finished. The Peterborough Dart SLF fleet was taken off the road and decommissioned at the end of March as part of the COVID-19 service reductions. Regular readers will recall that when King’s Lynn depot was closed 10052-55 moved to Long Sutton with Peterborough depot providing maintenance and as a result they were regularly seen on Peterborough local services (our image was taken in March 2019). In preparation for Long Sutton depot transferring to Stagecoach East Midlands 10052-55 were transferred to Cambridge and then subsequently to Bedford where all four were repainted before entering service there. Now they are returning to Peterborough! A number of buses here are now carrying a ‘Thank you to all Key Workers’ message on the destination screens.
