East Yorkshire Motor Services has confirmed that it has now sold Optare Excel’s 250/52/53/54 and 296. The new Volvo B5TL/MCV EvoSeti double deck for this fleet was exhibited at the recent ALBUM conference. It is confirmed as H45/30F and has returned to MCV for finishing off before formal handover. EYMS Chairman and Chief Executive has suggested that once delivered it is likely to be allocated to one of the smaller depots to reduce the number of drivers that need to be type trained on it.
The suggested transfer of Stagecoach East Dart SLF 34580 from Cambridge to King’s Lynn took place at the end of last week and it was seen in service yesterday. Its stay at King’s Lynn may, however, be short as we believe it is being transferred to Stagecoach East Midlands in the coming months. We also now believe that the Optare Solo being transferred to this fleet from Stagecoach Manchester, 47470, may in fact be for Bedford rather than Cambridge/Ely.
Look out for the delivery of the first new Optare Solo SR’s for Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire’s Carlisle depot in the next few weeks. They will replace Enviro 200s.
No vehicles with Stagecoach Yorkshire now carry Sheffield Route 83 and Route 87 branding and in Chesterfield Route 39 branding has been removed from Optare Solos 47318/20-22. A further ex Stagecoach London Trident to be re-registered is 17790 which now carries the cherished plate PHE692. We understand that the Optare Excels at Chesterfield are to be taken out of service and become training vehicles in this fleet.
