We have received some information on the fleet upgrade taking place at Cambridgeshire-based, Tower-owned Whippet of Swavesey.
Recent arrivals on loan are Tower 42515-8, Dennis Dart/Caetano B29D, registered LK03NKH/J/L/M. The are expected to remain with Whippet until March/April next year.
A permanent addition is the first of ten Volvo B7TLs with Wright Gemini bodywork - 32499 (LK54FLE). Its early arrival is for staff training, both by fitters & drivers. It remains London red livery and will be refurbished, converted to single door layout and repainted before entry into service. The remaining nine are expected to have this work carried out before being transferred from London. There have been several disposals from the fleet including Trident WD420 (X605EGK) and Volvo B6/East Lancs WS305/7  (FE51RBU,RDU) which have gone for scrap.
With the transfer of the Gemini double decks, the following are expected to leave the fleet in the coming months WS301-3 (H13/14/16WCL) Scania/Wrights;
WS304/9 (H17WCL, V293UV) Volvo B10/Alexanders; WS306 FE51RCU (last Volvo B6 East Lancs) and WS315 (W476MKU), the last DAF SB220/ East Lancs Myllenium in the fleet.
