Our Editorial Consultant Richard Smiles has been busy checking through his records and can shed a little more light on the use of Optare Solo 47025 here.
It would appear it was a ‘leased’ vehicle which initially, at least, was owned by the Countryside Commission.
YL02 FKY was new to Busways in August 2002, but with no fleet number recorded, however by late 2002 it was reported as being given fleet number B009, which at the time was the type of code used for Ancillary vehicles, rather than main fleet vehicles. It was reported as being returned to the Countryside Commission (as B009) in November 2002.
In April 2003 it was returned to Busways from the Countryside Commission and was then carrying fleet number 47025. The vehicle then past to Stagecoach North West in November 2003 It then saw further use with Busways, certainly in 2004 and 2005, when it carried the name "Spartacus" and a special Hadrians Wall Bus (AD122) livery.
By March 2006 it was reported ‘Off Lease’ at Walkergate depot. It was later operated by Classic Coaches.

Stagecoach South Wales
